Brian started his musical career relatively early. He started playing his first professional gigs in rock-n-roll roadhouses at age 16, with various garage bands that are too numerous to remember.

The first memorable band Brian hooked up with was Kaos (Chaos), a popular Texas new-wave band that opened shows for The Romantics and John Butcher Axis, and toured the Midwest extensively. That was followed by a genuine shot at stardom with Houston's great rock hope 5AM, but it was not to be.

Brian then moved to Dallas, where he became a vocal gun for Justin Case, an obscure blues-rock and Top-40 band. After some moderate success, he decided to set his sights on Texas' Music Capital, in Austin.

With great expectations, he joined the band NRG, another popular Top-40 rock group. Creative differences and personal conflicts would make the Austin adventure a bust.

He again headed back to Dallas, and dabbled with the original band Tripton Groove and the classic-rock band Brazos before moving to Los Angeles to investigate the music scene there.

"LA was different animal", he recalls of that period. "Every musician I came in contact with was so worried about what the next industry trend was going to be, they lost sight of what playing music is all about."

Living there would soon prove to be unsatisfactory so again he trekked back to Dallas where he immediately joined sammIam, yet another popular Top-40 party band. They burned bright, fast and out in about two years.

After that he temporarily played with the well-known classic-rock band The Fugitives and the variety band Eleven:Eleven before landing a permanent position with Decades.
